ይህ ብሂል ውጫዊ ገጽታን ወይም ላይ ላዩን ያለውን እውቀት መሰረት አድርጎ ውሳኔዎችን መወሰንን ያወግዛል። ለአንድ ሰው መልክ ብቻውን አይቶ ሽልማት መስጠት፣ ወይም ጥልቅ እውቀቱን ሳያጣሩ 'ያውቃል' ብሎ ብቻ ወሳኝ ቦታ ላይ መሾም ስህተት መሆኑን ያስረዳል።
