Meaning

This proverb criticizes the practice of making decisions based on superficial qualities or perceived knowledge rather than genuine merit and proven competence. ይህ ብሂል ውጫዊ ገጽታን ወይም ላይ ላዩን ያለውን እውቀት መሰረት አድርጎ ውሳኔዎችን መወሰንን ያወግዛል። ለአንድ ሰው መልክ ብቻውን አይቶ ሽልማት መስጠት፣ ወይም ጥልቅ እውቀቱን ሳያጣሩ 'ያውቃል' ብሎ ብቻ ወሳኝ ቦታ ላይ መሾም ስህተት መሆኑን ያስረዳል።
