Meaning

This proverb indicates that some people might be kind and generous to strangers, yet create problems or burdens for their close relatives. It suggests that while kindness might be extended to strangers (perhaps because they are perceived as not having ulterior motives), relatives are often forgotten or not helped when they face difficulties.

ይህ ምሳሌ የሚያመለክተው አንዳንድ ሰዎች ለማያውቁት ሰው ደጋግና ለጋስ ቢሆኑም፣ ለቅርብ ዘመዶቻቸው ግን ችግር ወይም ሸክም የሚፈጥሩ መሆናቸውን ነው። የውጭ ሰው ሊያመጣ የሚችለው ጥቅም የለም ተብሎ ስለሚታሰብ ደግነት ሲደረግለት፣ የዘመድ ግን ችግር ሲያጋጥመው ይረሳል ወይም አይረዳም።
