This proverb describes a situation where one bad thing is added to another, making an already difficult situation much worse. ይህ ብሂል አንድ መጥፎ ሁኔታ ላይ ሌላ መጥፎ ነገር ሲደራረብበት ያለውን ሁኔታ ያብራራል። 'በእንቅርት ላይ ጆሮ ደግፍ' ማለት አንዱ ችግር ላይ ሌላ ችግር መጨመር ማለት ሲሆን፣ 'የግፍ ግፍ' ደግሞ ከፍተኛ የሆነ በደል ወይም ኢፍትሃዊነት ሲበዛ ይገልጻል። ስለዚህ፣ የአንድን ሰው ስቃይ ወይም ችግር መጨመርን ያሳያል።
